She Blooms | Creative Scrappers

I created a layout using the May Sketch from Creative Scrappers ( 294)

I loved the circles that were incorporated in this sketch. I cut out 5" circles and then simply cut 3"circle off to the side to create something different. I do like the way the layout turned out.

Adventure Mini Album | Jillibean Soup

Hello Friends,

A few months ago I was at a crop and after creating about 5-6 layouts I decided it was time to start a Mini Album. I used to do these about once or twice a month, I loved it. I love flipping thru pages of finished mini albums and I've kept quite a few over the years. I have sold a few, given some as gifts, others recycled, and some are in a safe place for years to come.  They are a bit time consuming ( at least 4-6 hours to create from start to finish ) but well worth the effort.

This little mini album is an Adventure Mini Album. A Let's Go Explore Nature and catch some bugs or butterflies. I probably won't add any pics to this mini and just keep it on my shelf for a few years. I really like it and do enjoy the finished project.

I created this for Jillibean Soup using the Mushroom Medley Collection. It came out a few weeks ago and is available for purchase if you wish to re-create this mini album.

Here we go .. the Adventure Begins..

The mini measures 4x6"  - i used kraft cardstock to create my foundation pages
and added patterned paper on top
I left a bit of the kraft cardstock showing for added details.

The white cardstock was doodled with a black journal pen
 - these are mats for photos to be added later .

Adding pop dots behind diecuts simple adds dimension in the mini album .
I also added a small wood grain tag to add some journaling or little keepsakes.

I love twine. If you are familiar with my work I add twine on almost every page
and of course this mini was no exception!

I tried to make every page different by adding papers in different directions,
and sizes. It gives the eye something else to look at other than straight designs.

Here is a close up of the pop dots used under the diecuts.

More white mats for photos.
I added a mini placemat and backed it up with some orange colored paper.
It adds fun details to the mini don't you think?
You can also cut out a shape with your digital diecut machine and use that.

Some room for tags and more journaling or keepsakes.

I love these huge kraft tags. They measure a bit more than 6" high and just peek out of the mini a little bit . I added twine, a few stickers and created journal lines with a black marker. We always have stories to tell when we are travelling so this is perfect!

I am really happy of the final album. It is one of my all time favorites.
I love all the details and of course those little diecuts from the Mushroom Medley collection are A-dorable! This little Fox for example .. i placed him behind the grey paper like he was hiding in the bushes or something LOL !

Here is a side view of the completed mini.
Lots of layers, tags, and " happiness"

Thank you so much for visiting and I hope you enjoyed peeking into my little mini!
If you would like to recreate it please do and of course
I ask that you give me credit as well or link to my blog post.

Sweet Memories | Jillibean Soup

Hello fellow scrapbook friends,

I am sharing a layout with you today called Sweet Memories. It was created for Jillibean Soup using the New Healthy Hello Collection.

I used some of the clear acrylic shapes and wood veneers on this page as well as a mini place-mat. I colored all my pieces except the wood ones. It was super easy to paint the acrylic shapes with some paint and add them to my page.

Sometimes you can't see these cool shapes on a page or a card but I find adding some paint to them really makes the visible and adds some texture. I painted the arrows and the word memories. I also did an acrylic wash to the mini place-mat with the butterfly .  So fun and really simple details to add some extra color.  I really love the pops of Yellow on this layout.

Sketch Challenge | Creative Scrappers

My goodness it's been a while since I've created a blog post for Creative Scrappers! I am excited to get back into creating sketches and providing inspiration to those that just love sketches.

This is the first sketch reveal in quite some time and I numbered it 294 after our sketch 286 and other sketches that were posted randomly within the last year. The number seemed fitting.

This is the sketch created using circles, 2 pictures and of course layers of paper and embellishments. We had special guests this month from the Clique Kits Design Team and we have a random prize to someone who gets involved with us during the next weeks. Create a layout and hashtag #Creatingwithsketches, post on facebook, instagram or the CS linkz tool.

Have fun creating and please share your layout ;-)

Thinking of You | Jillibean Soup

Hello Friends! Have you all recovered from National Scrapbook Day? I sadly wasn't able to scrapbook or play much but I did enjoy reading and seeing all the challenges, layouts and smiley faces on social media!

Today I'm sharing a card I created for Jillibean Soup using the " Healthy Hello Soup
I love this navy blue, teal and yellow on paper. That coffee cup was an added bonus. I made this card thinking about my mom. I don't get to drink coffee with her very often and this was just a little something I created thinking about that and how much I miss her. Yes she's only about 3.5hrs away from me but real life gets in the way and I'm not able to visit as much as I should.

Thanks for visiting today and come join me on instagram if you would like to see more sneak peeks and projects!

Have a great week!

Hello Pretty Girl | Jillibean Soup & Page Maps

In early April Becky from Page Maps asked the Jillibean Crew if we wanted to create layouts using her sketches. I agreed without hesitation. Becky's sketches are always such an inspiration for me and help me create layouts that I might not normally do. Example; multi photos !!! I have rashes when I create with more than 1 picture. I am really not sure why .. but i do! I always love a good challenge and this sketch was perfect for me ;)

PageMaps May 2016 - Sketch 4 pics

Layouts and Layers | Simple Stories

Hello Scrapbook Friends,

I am still on the east Coast and definitely not on some tropical Island where I’d love to be! I am sharing 2 layouts I created with the Simple Stories YOU ARE HERE collection.

I sat down at my desk last Wednesday night and felt like creating something with lots of color and something that would take me back to that warm breeze and the sounds of the ocean.
I opened up my ziplock bag of left over pieces from the You Are Here collection and started creating. I had no plan except to use up some Bits & Pieces and add lots of fun elements to my pages. I created 2 layouts in the span of 3 hours and had a blast! This is one collection that makes me happy ;)

Alright, I am done blabbing.. Here is the first layout I will share with you today; Paradise.

It’s actually a photo of my cousin and she’s sitting on a log in the Atlantic Ocean. No palm trees or flamingos here folks!! I still used this collection and it fit perfectly with that orange hat, right?

I first added some acrylic paint in the background. I wanted to add some color but I had no 12x12 sheet left from this collection. So to add color, paint was my choice. I then started adding left over pieces of patterned paper behind my photo and added some dimensional adhesives behind my photo. This gave me the options of adding die cuts under my picture and also allowing me to create layers around the photo.

Adding chipboard, stickers and die cuts adds extra details, but then adding dimensional adhesive makes it even more detailed.

If you want to add layers to your project you can also cut out pieces from a page or journal card. Cutting out leaves and flowers is something I do on several of my pages. I didn’t add a fancy title or journaling on this page, a simple piece of chipboard and journal strips from a piece of paper from the collection.

Adding details such as sewing or paint droplets will also gives your pages texture. A small piece of twine or ribbon is also a great way to add something extra to your page. I find that people always love touching layouts. They look for texture, for dimension and that often gives your project that WOW factor!

The second layout is called CA. (Short for California!). This is a picture I took in January 2015 at Huntington Beach California. It was a beautiful sunny day, surfers, and no one was swimming but it was so peaceful and relaxing. Perfect day to spend watching the waves, reading a book, or journaling in your planner!

My goal with this layout was to use up some leftover papers. I had small pieces left and wanted to use them so I started with this cut file from Just Nick Studio. I have been using lots of background files to create layouts lately and I find that also helps during a scrap slump and helps me get my mojo back ;)

So to create this, I cut up my leftover pieces in 2” squares to fit behind the + signs. It was very colorful!!! I was thinking of adding a black and white photo which would have been OK, but instead I opted for some contrasting colors. That blue in my picture really stands out among all those colors, and It isn’t overshadowed at all with the mix of patterns.

Placing my photo again with dimensional adhesive, and again allowing me to layer elements on top and bottom of the picture gave my page a 3D look. This is something I have been doing and love the look it gives my pages. It is also very addicting because I really don’t think I could create a page without these little pop dots!

I added some wood veneers, some enamel dots as well as a few drops of paint on my page to add some texture. I did a small title of CA with some alpha stickers with some glossy accents and a journal spot with the date. It reads; California Beaches-I will return soon!

I hope you enjoyed my layouts today and enjoy creating your own pages with Simple Stories products! Interested in seeing more of my work? I started a hashtag called #Ilovediecutsandpopdots (seriously) come visit me on Instagram @KristineDavidson.
